Tribune Denounces Expansion Opponents
- Tribune writes a story questioning the effectiveness of anti-expansion litigation. The story claims such suits are obstructionist and money-wasting. (Chicago Tribune 06/04/02)
House Amends Lipinski Bill, to Cut Special Provision for
Peotone
- At the request of
Minnesota Rep. James Oberstar, the Peotone language in the Lipinski bill
is removed. Rep. Kirk claims
that Rep. Jerry Weller was responsible for the removal of the Peotone
provision as a way to kill the overall bill. (The Bond Buyer, 06/27/02)
Majority Leader to Back Legislation, Guarantees Passage
- Sen.
Daschle (D-SD), whose wife Linda is a lobbyist for American Airlines, “offers
his personal guarantee” that the O’Hare
legislation will pass. (Associated Press 06/28/02)
